Stool With Hidden Functionality

Dear Sofa...

Well I found this little number in Nanton at the Candy Shop! I see these stools all the time the ones that have slots in them for holding records. Although records are coming back I haven't picked up on that trend. I however have a different use in mind for this baby. She is going to serve as my new filing cabinet! Clever I know. She will look so cute in my at home office. Take a peek...

Mismatched Duo

Dear Sofa....

These two chairs I found at "Find" (Where else). My sister has been looking for two chairs for their living room for some time and I thought although these aren't the same chairs they have a very similar shape. So I got the go ahead to spruce these chairs up for her. That old brown fabric hurts to look at and isn't that pleasant to touch either. Not sure how that fabric was ever popular. This duo was really easy and fun to make over let's just hope my sister loves them like I do!

Little Floral Stools

Dear Sofa...

These little stools I found when my mom, sister and I went snooping around Nanton. Nanton has some of the coolest antique shops I have ever seen. I found most of my treasures at a little shop tucked behind the famous "Candy Shop". These stools remind me of my grandma's house. I thought with a little revamp they would make great extra seating when we have guests.

Dear Sofa...

I have been seeing this style of chair all over the place, in magazines and online. I fell in love with it when I saw it at Find. However it needed just a little love and revamping. I had so many ideas on what I wanted this chair to look like that it was hard to pick a fabric and paint color. I literally walked around and around the fabric store for probably 1/2 hr trying to decide. But take a look and see what I ended up picking. I wish I had a walk in closet that I could put it in because it is super girly!

Dear Sofa...

I found these napkin rings at Strathern United Church's rummage sale. You know it's a good sale when you have to line up before it start. When we saw the line forming my mom and I hoped out of the car and sent my husband to get us some cash. Now I have lived in my neighbourhood now for about three years and I didn't even know that this rummage sale existed, but apparently it happens every year at the beginning of May. What a Gong Show!! I am not too happy to admit that I might have had a run in with a lady at the jewellery table, but she was asking for it. Anyways these napkin rings remind me of the 90's with their silver with gold accent bows. Being that they were super cheap I figured I might be able to bring them into the here and now.

Dear Sofa...

This chair has been sitting in my basement for awhile now just waiting for me to get around to bringing it back to life. I found this little piece at the Reuse Fair that a church in my neighbourhood hosts every September. I instantly liked this piece when I saw it. It has such a strong base mixed with an almost delicate backrest. Almost like the back rest was an after thought.

I wanted to turn this chair into a statement. The grey velvet wasn't doing it for me so found some great fabric and now this chair has a permanent home in my bedroom.

Dear Sofa...

I found this stool at FIND one of my favorite places for used furniture. Usually, second hand shops have a little bit of furniture but mostly clothing. FIND is all furniture and household items. The trick I have discovered with FIND is, if you find something you like buy it! Things (especially the really unique pieces) don't stick around for long. There are a lot of designers going through snagging up the good stuff.

I was drawn to overall charm of this stool. I love the combination of the straw seat with the lathe carved legs (which is somewhat of a past trend). This stool needed a little love, wanted to freshen it up a bit and keep the wood looking soft and like wood. This stool was a lot of fun to work on. It wasn't hard and I kept changing my mind and adding then taking away. But I am happy with the final product and how it turned out. Take a look!
